Chelsea v CFR Cluj betting latest

Matthew Glazier - 8 Dec 2008

After home wins against Bordeaux and Roma, it had appeared that Phil Scolari's men would qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with something to spare. However, a solitary point from away matches against the same opponents means that the Blues need victory against Cluj to be certain of a place in the last sixteen.

The bookmakers are expecting a pushover, going a best price 1/6 (Paddy Power) about Chelsea winning, despite the Romanian champions holding them to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture. However, this is a dead rubber for the visitors and it should pay to back last year's finalists to be leading at half-time and full-time (1/2 Coral). If they're managing this away at Bolton, it should be no problem at home to such modest opponents.

If you fancy Chelsea winning by a big margin, they are 11/10 (Stan James) giving their opponents a two-goal start, while Blue Square offer the best price about Didier Drogba (7/2) and Nicolas Anelka (7/2) scoring first.
