Hamburg v Aston Villa betting latest

Matthew Glazier - 15 Dec 2008

Martin O’Neill’s team might be flying in the Premier League at the moment, but that hasn’t stopped the bookmakers from making them outsiders for this UEFA Cup clash. Aston Villa are as big as 12/5 (bet365) to follow up wins against Everton and Bolton with a victory in this match, although it’s worth noting that they will qualify for the last-32 stage whether they win, lose or draw in Germany.

After a 2-0 win at Slavia Prague in the last round of matches, Hamburg top the group and are no better than 6/5 (Boylesports) to land the spoils. Their Bundesliga form in front of their own fans (W7 D1 L0) suggests this is a big price, although they were beaten on home soil by Ajax in an earlier round of group matches. Gabby Agbonlahor (7/1 Blue Square) and Ashley Young (9/1 Ladbrokes) are in blistering form at the moment for the Villans and might be popular on the First Goalscorer market.
