Netherlands take on Switzerland in an international friendly tonight.
Both sides will be looking to experiment ahead of next summer's European Championships and between now and the kick off of Euro 2012 there won't be very opportunities to see the progress of the Dutch side.
But there is a chance on Friday, when they take on Switzerland in Amsterdam. It is just 3/10 at
bet365 that the hosts beat the Swiss and it is difficult to imagine any other result.
Bert Van Marwijk will, of course, be assessing some of his fringe players on Friday and he is unlikely to lean too heavily on either Robin Van Persie or Rafael Van Der Vaart, who are both players who can struggle with fitness, and so the likes of 20-year-old PSV winger Georginio Wijnaldum and 21-year-old Twente striker Luuk de Jong will be afforded an opportunity to impress the coaching staff.
That could well work against Switzerland as these players, who have lit up the Eredivisie this season, will be keen to impress and will play with pace and energy that is seldom seen in a friendly. It is 20/21 that Netherlands win by two or more goals on Friday and that looks like a fairly safe pick.
Switzerland are 10/1 to win in Amsterdam or 4/1 to draw with their hosts but they didn't show very much in Euro 2012 qualifying to suggest that they are going to be capable of troubling the side ranked at number two in the world by FIFA. Ottmar Hitzfeld has remained in charge of the national team but one suspects that the German won't be at the helm for too much longer.
