Romania v Belarus live

Romania need to beat Belarus tonight to have any hope of finishing second in Euro 2012 Group D.

Romania have had a turbulent Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. Not only have results been disappointing but they have also had to deal with the controversy of Adrian Mutu and Gabriel Tamas's exclusion from the national side due to indiscipline.

It now looks like they will miss out on even a place in the playoffs, with Bosnia four points ahead of Victor Piturca's side with just two games remaining in Group D. Given that one of Bosnia's matches is against Luxembourg it looks likely that even a win on Friday against Belarus won't be enough for the Tricolorii.

It is 8/15, at bet365, that Romania do beat Belarus in Bucharest but that price is very short on a team that has managed just three wins in eight qualifying matches (two of which were against Luxembourg).

Belarus may not be the greatest side in international football but they drew 0-0 with Romania in Minsk and beat France in Paris. A draw with Luxembourg effectively ended their chances of qualifying for Poland/Ukraine but they will still have pride to play for on Friday and they are dangerous opponents.

It is 6/1 that Bernd Stange's side win in Bucharest although that may be a little beyond Belarus. Instead, it could be worth backing a draw, at odds of 11/4. The two sides finished level last September and are very closely rated by FIFA, with Romania 53rd and Belarus 56th in the most recent world rankings.

Recommendation

Win Market - Draw (11/4, bet365)
