West Ham v Portsmouth betting latest

Matthew Glazier - 12 Nov 2008

Two young managers with plenty to prove will go head-to-head at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon. Portsmouth are 2/1 (betfair) to follow up their win at Sunderland with another three points in east London, a result which would heap further pressure on the shoulders of Gianfranco Zola.

The likeable Italian is having a tough time at the moment, with his team now six matches without a victory. Last Saturday’s 3-1 reverse will have been especially painful, with the Hammers capitulating in the last ten minutes after controlling large parts of the match. It’s 6/4 (Stan James) that they pick up their fourth home win of the season, although former striker Jermain Defoe will fancy his chances against a team without a clean sheet this term. He’s 11/2 (Stan James) to open the scoring.
